Putin Dismisses U.S. Sanctions on Russian Oil Firms, Warns of Retaliation
Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed new U.S. sanctions targeting Russia's top oil companies as an "unfriendly act" that would not significantly impact the country's economic stability. The sanctions, announced by the TRUMP administration, escalated tensions over the Ukraine conflict and triggered a 5% surge in global oil prices.
Putin warned that any military strikes deep inside Russia WOULD face an "overwhelming" response. He mocked the sanctions, suggesting they might hinder Western access to "Russian toilets," while reaffirming Russia's resilience against external pressure.
The measures forced India to reconsider its Russian oil imports after nine months of resistance. Despite the sanctions, Putin maintained that Russia's energy sector remains confident and stable.
